Production Highlight: Hudson Hall Jazz Festival
Hudson Hall, New York's oldest surviving theater built in 1855, is now a popular venue for live events ranging from music and dance performances to lectures and workshops. The venue recently replaced its outdated audio system with a new K-array system to meet the modern-day requirements of a performance space. The permanent installation proved to be successful during the 2023 Hudson Jazz Festival held over two weekends in February.
Keith Rivers of Audio Video Corporation created a unique solution to meet the client’s needs: supply discreet form factors that work with the aesthetics of the historic building and to use all pre-existing mounting points from the previous line array system.
This unique system configuration consists of K-array Python-KP102 I speakers, and Thunder-KS2 I subwoofers to ensure proper coverage and adequate SPL capabilities for optimal success in a challenging, reverberate space. The custom system provided clear, accurate, and powerful sound reinforcement, ensuring even and consistent audio coverage throughout the main floor of the venue.
“We had to come up with a custom mounting solution to attach the subs to each other and invert them. All processing, tuning, delay etc., is being handled within the KS2 I on board amps/processing and was facilitated via the K-array Connect app. The K-array solution provides clear, accurate and powerful sound reinforcement in a challenging, reverberated space." - Keith Rivers, House Audio Engineer for Hudson Hall, and Account Rep for Audio Video Corporation.
Production Highlight: W Magazine with special guest: Eric Nam
In February, W Magazine hosted an intimate gathering to celebrate the fourth edition of Frieze Los Angeles. This exclusive event set the stage for indie K-pop musician, Eric Nam, who performed for a crowd of various artists, musicians, gallerists, and creatives in an intimate backyard setting.
On-Stage Rentals and owner, George Acuña were sought out by creative agency David Rodgers Inc (D.R) to provide an outdoor concert-worthy audio solution for the host’s private backyard in Hancock Park, Los Angeles. With time and space at a premium, two K-array Pinnacle-KR402 II systems were paired in a simple left/right configuration providing a sophisticated streamlined look with a quick setup and breakdown that was necessary for this event.
“Our client David Rogers Inc (D.R) required a “clean” look for photographs, but also wanted to maintain a live tour feel. K-array fits that profile. This particular set-up was chosen because the Thunder KMT21 sub has enough impact for bass heavy tracks and has enough coupling to emit the desired mid-range. Our client prefers us to use our K-array’s over anything else because of their slim size, high SPL output, and setup time,” - Christian Chavez, On-Stage Rentals.
