University of Pennsylvania Silverman Hall
Silverman Hall, a cornerstone of the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, combines academic prestige with architectural splendor. Designed in 1900 by Cope and Stewardson, the English Baroque inspired building forms part of a quartet of interconnected buildings around a central courtyard.
To meet the academic demands in the Bernard Segal Moot Court and Kabacoff Reading Room, Video Visions Inc. partnered with K-array to implement a modern audio system that complements the hall’s historic charm.
Installed in between intricate millwork, nine Kobra-KK102 I column speakers, custom painted in Farrow & Ball’s Elephant’s Breath, and seven Vyper-KV25 II speakers, finished in Benjamin Moore’s Anchor Gray, were chosen to harmonize with the space’s architectural elements. Four Rumble-KU210 subwoofers, discreetly placed behind acoustic fabric panels, and two Kommander-KA104 amplifiers ensure clear, powerful sound for lectures, events, and simulated court sessions.
The compact, elegantly designed system enhances audio clarity and coverage without disrupting the hall’s antique interior. Custom finishes allow the speakers to blend into the architecture, maintaining the historic character of the space while delivering exceptional performance.
UPenn Law School’s partnership with Video Visions Inc. and K-array has resulted in a modern audio solution that meets the demands of today’s academic and legal settings while preserving the timeless beauty of Silverman Hall.
